Challenge
As electric vehicle adoption accelerates, companies face mounting pressure to expand charging infrastructure. However, determining where to install new SPKLU (electric vehicle charging stations) is not straightforward. Traditional methods often lack data accuracy and fail to capture where EV users truly reside or travel. Without visibility into actual EV density or behavioral patterns, infrastructure investments risk being misallocated—resulting in underused stations or coverage gaps.
Our Solution
IOS tackled this challenge using a data-driven strategy powered by Telco mobility analytics. We conducted a detailed spatial and behavioral analysis of EV users, delivering:
-
Density Mapping
Identify neighborhoods with the highest EV user concentrations using anonymized telco signals. -
Gap Analysis
Overlay current SPKLU infrastructure to detect underserved areas and infrastructure blind spots. -
Behavioral Insights
Understand mobility patterns and typical dwell times to recommend the most convenient placement zones. -
Strategic Recommendations
Prioritize rollout based on usage potential and access needs to maximize infrastructure ROI.
Impact
The insights enabled our partner to make smarter, data-backed infrastructure decisions—ensuring that every new SPKLU was placed where it could deliver maximum utility and accessibility. By focusing on true demand rather than assumptions, they minimized risk, optimized budget allocation, and laid the foundation for a more connected and sustainable EV ecosystem.
